About Kitchen Table Way
In March 2020, deep quarantine lockdowns were implemented in Kansas, USA. In an effort to foster resilience, connection, and hope, a themed discussion group on Facebook was created for spiritual and humanist exploration. The group naturally generated ideas, questions, and inspiration related to an "everyday spiritual" practice, which encompasses practices commonly integrated into many faiths and philosophies.
We do topical deep dives, conduct in-depth explorations and investigate practical actions that guide us toward our own interpretation of "everyday" or practical spirituality. We draw inspiration from any source that resonates with us, and we actively engage in stirring the pot, being curious, and finding ways to make sense of it all.
As someone who has identified as a Unitarian Universalist Pagan for over 20 years, I believe that many core concepts of spirituality and faith are fundamentally similar from tradition to tradition. We are all embarking on a journey, a pilgrimage of sorts, to find connection and meaning in our lives. My experience of serving the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council for over a decade instilled in me a deep appreciation for the great tapestry of faith, philosophy, and spiritual practices that illuminate our human experience. At The Kitchen Table, we aim to foster these conversations by seeking and sharing words, questions, and contemplations that build bonds, uplift, educate, and generate hope. I am a strong proponent of interfaith dialogue and welcome all who approach it with curiosity and caring. People of all faiths or none at all are welcome. At the end of the day, we all benefit when we lift each other up. So, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and join us at The Kitchen Table.

PS. The recipe goes something like this:
In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of community. Mix thoroughly until it becomes a supportive and loving base.
Add 2 cups of poetry and/or prose. Stir gently to allow the words to resonate with your soul.
Add 1 tablespoon of vulnerability, allowing yourself to be open and authentic.
Pour in 3 oz of persistence. Mix vigorously and consistently.
Add 5 dollops of prayer, stirring gently to incorporate a sense of faith and hope.
Include 2 tablespoons of tears, allowing yourself to process and release emotions.
Sprinkle laughter to taste, stirring gently to create a lighthearted and joyful mixture.
Finally, pour in 6 oz of self-care. Mix gently and allow the mixture to rest and rise.
Serve with side of hope and share with everyone at the table.
